Братья Тагуновы были состоятельными и уважаемыми людьми. 5 июля 1876 г. собрание городской Думы избрало Л. Е. Тагунова членом строительной комиссии по возведению здания муромского реального училища. А его брат Павел Ермолаевич, содержатель бань, в 1882 г. доставил лесные материалы и балки на сумму 3458 руб. 90,5 коп. для строящегося здания.
